About Joanne Reid’s Writing

by admin on December 7, 2009

From 2006 until near the end of 2009, I was the mayor of the small town where I live. While the job is virtually volunteer, I did not diligently keep up with my first love — writing. I’ve written everything from short stories to software manuals. When I became mayor, I was writing PLR articles which I love because they led me into all sorts of interesting niches. Also they allowed me to bring myself up to date on writing for the web. While I had written for the web in the mid-90s, thing changed dramatically over the first surge of web content.

During the municipal experience I learned a valuable lesson and that is that distractions do not work well with a freelance career because just when you have a writing deadline, suddenly something urgent happens (in the municipal world pipes burst, contractors have questions, planning issues arise) and a special meeting is called and poof – there goes the day.

So I’ve gone through a form of Boot Camp regarding focus, time management, and writing to one’s strengths.

Below is some basic info about me and my writing. I have also been an About.com Guide and a Suite 101 writer. I write quickly and the product usually gets high praise.
