There has been a certain gypsy-like quality to my life. It’s just the way the world worked for me. Now my three children live all across the country: New Brunswick, Ontario, British Columbia. My dearest friends/friends of my youth live around the world.
Since coming home, I’ve found the feeling I’ve sought since I was 16. It’s cozy and happy and peaceful here. I have always mostly lived in my own head, creating my own worlds.
Writing has been my source of income, my therapist, my entertainment, my outlet, and my joy. It’s kind of fun to have it parsed and categorized so that I write technically for a living, write my novel for entertainment, and blog for fun.
I need to plan my day and now that my time is my own, that is what I enjoy best. At night, I make the list of things to do for the next day and then I head out into the world to cross out the items on the list in an orderly manner. I no longer have to worry about long meetings and staying up half the night to finish a writing contract.
Shortly the old gypsy element will be let out to play and I’m heading south for a winter adventure. The best of both worlds not only lays before me but is right here in front of me right now.
